As I mentioned yesterday, I am embarking on a culinary adventure via English (some may be UK, not necessarily specific to England. I've gotta work with what I can find!) food items purchased at Cost Plus World Market. I'm not actually sure if some of these, like today's picks, are items that 007 Dan eats or likes, but I picked them out and am going to give them a shot.
I made an excellent pairing on my first picks, Toffypops washed down with Banana Bread Beer. The amazing Banana Bread Beer is brewed in Bedford, England by Wells. It really does have a banana bread after taste. It's enough like a dessert that I almost felt overindulgent by having the Toffypops too. Almost. They were so good, that I actually ate two, got up and sealed them in Tupperware and hid them in the cupboard so that I wouldn't eat the entire package. It's a chocolate covered buttery cookie with soft toffy in the middle. Holy cow, so good!
I had my beer and cookies while watching the second and third episodes of Downton Abbey. It's such a total soap opera, I'm loving it. The best is the interplay between Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton. So many cutting remarks Great writing and great characters. I can't believe that the first season only has seven episodes, I'm nearly half way done!
