UK August-October 2013- Scottish Highlands and Glencoe

Our drive to our night-stop in Loch Ness got off to an auspecious start with a vibrant rainbow.

Can you spot the rainbow?

As we left Loch Loman, we still encountered steady rain. The rain made the hills gleam in a saturated green. The shape and color of the hills very much reminded me of the valleys  in Maui.

We stopped by the River Orchy to take a few pictures of the rushing water. The stone bridge was absolutely beautiful.

The next portion of our drive took us into the Scottish Highlands.

Highlands Welcome Sign

At first, the scenery was primarily flat and brown, but then we saw green mountains with shimmering waterfalls.

We took a latte break in the village of Glencoe, which sits right on the banks of the River Coe. I love supporting local businesses and the Glencoe Cafe proved to be a winner.

Glencoe Cafe

We ordered delicious homemade scones to go with our lattes. The walls were covered with prints of nature and wildlife photography from a local artist, which were for sale, along with handmade greeting cards.

It was cold outside and I enjoyed warming up inside of the cafe, which was cozy and filled with tons of natural light. The service was as warm as the ambiance.

With bellies full of sweet treats, we drove off towards our next Scotland adventure!
